Fixed Gas Detectors
Fixed gas detectors are used to protect buildings and the environment. Their purpose is to control gas-related risks and provide permanent monitoring. In situations involving the production or emission of hazardous gases or the build-up of gas, it is more appropriate to set up a fixed gas detection system to prevent and limit the impact of a gas leak.
They are usually connected to a gas controller, which coordinates the entire system and provides a means of monitoring all the detectors (located in one or more areas). In the event of a hazard, they can trigger actions such as a visual and/or audible warning such as a buzzer or beacon – See the Signalling and Alarms section – and may also in some cases prompt a physical action such as stoppage of a process: valve closure, injection of neutralising agents, etc.
