Germane : Description and use

Description

Germane, or germanium tetrahydride, is the simplest germanium hydride, and is the analogue of silane SiH₄ for silicon or methane CH₄ for carbon. The GeH₄ molecule is tetrahedral, like the SiH₄ and CH₄ molecules.
It is a colourless compressed gas with an acrid odour.

Flammability: This product is flammable and may ignite in air.

USE
  • To manufacture high-performance integrated circuits in the semiconductor industry
  • To manufacture photovoltaic cells
  • Space-based applications
