Hydrazine : Description and use

Description

Hydrazine, official name diazane, is a colourless liquid chemical compound, with an odour similar to that of ammonia. It is miscible with water in all proportions.
It is a fuming, colourless, hygroscopic liquid with an acrid odour.

USE
  • Intermediate in organic synthesis (agrochemicals, pharmaceutical industry, chemical industry, etc.).
  • Laboratory reagent.
  • Blowing agent for polymer foams (PE, PVC, EVA, rubber, etc.).
  • Reducing agent for metal salts.
  • Corrosion inhibitor in the water of industrial boilers, and nuclear and thermal power stations.
  • Fuel for rockets or fuel cells.
